The Hasso Plattner Foundation aims to accelerate the adoption of digital technologies through science and education, improve access to art and culture, and support environmental conservation. Hasso Plattner is one of the founders of SAP, an enterprise software company, and has been chairman of its supervisory board until 2024.
In 1998, Hasso Plattner founded the Hasso Plattner Institute for Digital Engineering, marking his first significant philanthropic contribution. After signing the Giving Pledge (initiated by Bill and Melinda Gates and Warren Buffet), he established the foundation in 2015.
We are the Investment Office of the Hasso Plattner Foundation. We have the mandate to generate income, and preserve and grow the wealth of the Hasso Plattner Foundation – with the ultimate goal of funding existing and new philanthropic initiatives into perpetuity.
We aim to generate high, risk-adjusted returns and invest capital in global public equities, leveraged buyouts, venture and growth capital, hedge funds and real assets. We invest with trusted external partners and selectively via direct ownership of businesses, especially in enterprise software and digital health.
Our investment strategy focuses on long-term equity ownership and risk diversification. The investment office seeks out external partners with entrepreneurial spirit, an ingrained moral compass, and a drive to make a positive impact. We invest to create value for both shareholders and society. Environmental, social, and governance (ESG) considerations guide our investment decisions deeply.
The Hasso Plattner Foundation’s main office is in Potsdam, Germany, with additional offices in San Francisco, USA, and Cape Town, South Africa.
The position:
As Investment Controlling Analyst (all genders) for the Investment Office of the Hasso Plattner Foundation, you will work closely with all members of the investment team and specifically our operational experts and partners to support the management of our investment portfolio. This position requires a diligent and data-driven person who is eager to learn. The successful candidate will be a self-starter and is used to “getting things done”.
Main tasks:
- Execution support along investment lifecycle and across various asset classes, working closely with investment manager, legal, tax and KYC specialists
- Transaction and data processing within our portfolio management software
- Reconciliation of cash, valuation and performance data
- Ad-hoc analysis, specifically relating to performance attribution and valuation
- Assist with good record keeping across the investment portfolio, including automating document and data capture
- Assist with compliance monitoring, regulatory reporting and external audits
Required background, competencies & skills:
- Good academic degree and relevant experience (e.g. Audit, FP&A, Banking, M&A, Deal Advisory via prior job, apprenticeship, internship, or similar)
- Good understanding of accounting principles is a plus
- Familiarity with financial markets and major asset classes preferred
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills
- Self-motivated personality who is also a team player
- High affinity for IT-applications and numbers; proficient in MS Excel
- Excellent communication and presentation skills in oral and written English, fluency in German is a plus
- Unquestioned integrity and strong sense for discretion
- No more than 2 years of experience
