In 1998, Hasso Plattner founded the Hasso Plattner Institute for Digital Engineering (HPI), marking his first significant philanthropic contribution. After signing the Giving Pledge (initiated by Bill and Melinda Gates and Warren Buffet), he established the foundation in 2015.

The position
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Legal Counsel with focus on Compliance to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that our organization complies with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards. This is a critical role that will require strong management skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
You will liaise with our affiliates and project partners worldwide to ensure diligent compliance processes. Suitable candidates are self-starters who feel comfortable in a dynamic and high-performing team, can familiarize themselves quickly with new topics, and know how to add value.
Your responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive compliance program that includes policies, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations
- Monitor and analyze regulatory developments to assess their impact on the organization and make recommendations for changes to policies and procedures as needed
- Conduct periodic compliance assessments to identify and mitigate areas of risk
- Provide compliance training and guidance to employees and management on compliance-related matters
- Work closely with other functional areas, including legal, risk management, and audit, to ensure alignment and consistency in compliance efforts
- Develop and maintain relationships with regulatory agencies and industry associations to stay informed of changes in regulations and industry best practices
- Lead investigations into potential compliance violations and develop corrective action plans as needed
- Prepare reports on compliance activities for management
Your experience & qualifications
- Academic degree in business, law, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in a compliance role, preferably in a regulated industry
- Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and business standards
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
