The Hasso Plattner Institute (HPI) is Germany's university center of excellence for digital engineering ( The joint digital engineering faculty of the University of Potsdam and HPI offers an engineering computer science program that is unique in Germany and particularly practice-oriented. HPI conducts world-renowned university research. The focus of HPI teaching and research is on the fundamentals and applications of large, highly complex and networked IT systems.

 In the course of its strong growth, the Hasso Plattner Institute is looking to recruit a


 IT-Health Liaison (m/f/d) 


 The position is temporary and full/ part-time.


The international academic and research collaboration between HPI and Mount Sinai Hospital was initiated in 2017, in an effort to bring digital engineering and healthcare together, resulting in the foundation of the Hasso Plattner Institute for Digital Health at Mount Sinai (HPI-MS). As the largest integrated health system in New York City, the Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) is a leader in advanced healthcare and health research, and provides an opportunity to researchers working with health data in the field of individual healthcare, data analytics, AI in health and digital public health and global health. In April 2024, a new graduate school will be launched to strengthen the existing partnership between HPI in Potsdam and HPI.MS in New York.


Your future tasks

  • Work closely with the Co-director and focal point of the partnership in Potsdam, as part of the coordination office team
  • Facilitate effective communication between IT professionals and researchers with a biomedical/clinical background to bridge the gap between technology and medical/clinical workflows
  • Collaborate with researchers to understand technological needs and challenges (particularly for researchers with Non-IT backgrounds), translating them into actionable requirements 
  • Act as a mediator to ensure that IT solutions align with research objectives, standards and regulatory requirements
  • Provide training and support to new researchers on new technologies, systems and updates, ensuring seamless integration into their daily workflows
  • Gather feedback from biomedical and clinical researchers and relay it to IT researchers, and vice versa, for continuous improvement of systems and applications (in particular AIR.MS)
  • Aid in the development and implementation of health IT projects within the framework of the HPI.MS Partnership

What you should bring

  • Masters Degree in Healthcare informatics, Bioinfomatics or related field (Doctoral degree valuable)
  • Strong background in both healthcare and information technology
  • Experience working directly with clinicians and IT professionals in a healthcare setting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to translate technical jargon for non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues at the intersection of IT and healthcare
  • Fluent in German and English, both written and verbal
