PhD candidate / a Postdoc (m/f/d) in the area of Cybersecurity Supply Chains
for our location in Potsdam for the
joint Hasso-Plattner-Institute (HPI) x Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) project:
“Culture and the Supply Chain:
Transmitting Shared Values, Attitudes, and Beliefs across Cybersecurity Supply Chains”
The position is fixed-term and full time.
Major international forensic reports have found that today in more than 60% of cybersecurity incidents, a compromise involved a breach in the supply chain. In this research project, we are investigating why security practices break at the supply chain border between organizations so that these compromises become possible, and identify possible mechanisms to remedy this.
Your future tasks
- Research in the field of cyber security, specifically supply chain security and cyber security management as part of the joint HPI-MIT project “Culture and the Supply Chain: Transmitting Shared Values, Attitudes, and Beliefs across Cybersecurity Supply Chains”
- Regularly attend HPI-MIT bi-annual workshops and present project work
- Develop and implement an extensive plan for in-person and virtual collaboration with researchers at MIT involved in the joint project
- Present written findings and conclusions in the joint project in the form of interim and final researcher reports and make available to all team members
- Attendance and presentation of research results at excellent conferences
- Supervision of master students
- Participation in all research cluster and HPI activities, especially those related to the HPI-MIT research partnerships (workshops, online seminar, research team activities, etc.)
Your skills
- An outstanding master’s degree (for the PhD position) or PhD (for the Postdoc position) in computer science
- We expect eagerness to participate in team work, outstanding analytical competence, and strong interest in current cybersecurity research
- Strong communication skills
- Excellent command of both spoken and written English and language skills in German are welcome
- A high level of dedication, independence, time flexibility as well as teamwork complete your profile as well
