Program-Manager Design Studio "Crisis & Resilience" (m/f/x)

 

​as of September 1, 2026. The position is temporary (8 months) and part-time (20h/week).

 

About the HPI School of Design Thinking (HPI d-school)

 

The HPI d-school was founded 2007. Since then, it has become the European Center for Design Thinking Education. Students from all kinds of fields develop innovative and human-centered solutions for complex problems. They collaborate with project partners from corporations, startups, NGOs or political institutions.

 

Your future tasks

 

  • Independently design, lead, and coordinate a Design Studio on “Crisis & Resilience” as a Design Thinking program for BA and MA students
  • Conceptualize, design and refine the new studio content and its design sprints together with the teaching team
  • Take responsibility for the management and coordination of the studio’s projects, case studies, and hands-on prototyping work with a coaching team
  • Support the relationship management of project and content partners including public authorities, critical infrastructure operators, warning-system provides and tech experts
  • Co-design hands-on technical Design Thinking projects with partners from various industries and non-profit organizations
  • Support the continuous content and professional development of the program
  • Coordinate documentation and reflection at the end of the studio
  • Partake in planning, designing and running events and workshops (as part of the studio)
  • Contribute to the further development of the HPI d-school
  • Participate in further training opportunities

 

Your skills

 

  • Completed university studies (preferably with innovation-oriented combination of subjects)
  • Content & method knowledge of Design Thinking and related approaches and experience with Design Thinking-projects
  • Interest in and experience with crisis and risk management, resilience, information and communication, public safety is an advantage
  • Work experience in a similar program in particular at a university is a strong advantage
  • Knowledge of, skills in and experience in the application and development of artificial intelligence applications is an advantage
  • Confidence in coordinating projects and managing diverse stakeholders, including partners from the public sector and critical-infrastructure organizations
  • Enthusiasm for working with a diverse group of students
  • Excellent communication- and presentation skills with diverse stakeholders
  • Professional fluency in English, both written and oral. German fluency is desired (Non-fluent applicants should show the willingness to develop their German language skills)
  • Comfortable working independently and in a team
  • Commitment, engagement, empathy and flexibility
  • Strategic thinking while paying attention to details
