The Hasso Plattner Institute (HPI) is Germany's university center of excellence for digital engineering (www.hpi.de). The joint digital engineering faculty of the University of Potsdam and HPI offers an engineering computer science program that is unique in Germany and particularly practice-oriented.  The Hasso Plattner Institute, academically constituted as the Digital Engineering Faculty of the University of Potsdam, in the course of its strong growth, is looking for the next possible date at the Potsdam location for a 

 

Program Manager (Academic Partnerships) (m/f/x)

 

 The position is temporary and full-time.

 

This role requires an individual who enjoys supporting international collaborations, involving both management of joint (research) projects and coordination and facilitation of PhD student exchange programs. This position is a fantastic opportunity for a collaborative, well-organised and highly motivated individual.


Key job responsibilities:

 

Project management 
Support administration of the existing and new collaborations with international academic partners including tracking project participants, coordinating project application and reporting processes and preparing program reports.

 

Student Exchange - Accommodation & Immigration
Facilitate PhD student exchange with HPI partner institutions, including supporting the incoming and outgoing students with their immigration and accommodation requirements. This requires understanding of immigration regulations both in Germany and worldwide (specifically US, UK and EU countries) and would involve building a network of connections to housing agencies and finding creative solutions for short-term accommodation (3-6 months) with local authorities and the Potsdam/Berlin house market. Successful candidates are also creative in co-designing new types of solutions for temporary housing and in speeding & scaling up immigration processes. 

 

Events coordination
Organise annual research workshops at HPI with visiting scholars from the international partner institutions. 
 
Basic Qualifications

  • Professional working experience in managing student exchange (including managing immigration and accommodation) 
  • Professional working experience in managing research projects, including monitoring budgets and financial reports
  • Fluent in German and English, both written and verbal
  • Strong communication skills, personal initiative, flexibility, intellectual curiosity, and experience working with outside agencies
  • Experience communicating with scientific and government stakeholders at different levels

 
Preferred Qualifications

  • Significant working experience in immigration from/to US, UK and EU countries
  • Experience with immigration regulations
  • Project management experience
  • Event organisation experience
  • Proven skills in contract negotiation
