Team Leader Strategic Projects (m/f/x)

 

The position is permanent and Full-Time.

 

 

 

For 25 years, HPI has been committed to excellence in research and teaching. To expand our impact on society and ensure we remain agile and competitive in an evolving educational landscape, we are forming a new Strategic Projects Team. This team will play a crucial role in developing, communicating, and implementing HPI’s long-term strategies through data-driven analysis and close collaboration with management board and leaders across the organization. 

 

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Team Leader to head this team. As the first member of the Strategic Projects Team, you will spearhead high-level initiatives and build a cross-functional team that turns strategic goals into actionable plans.

 

 

Key job responsibilities

 

  • Strategy Team Leadership: Hire and develop a team of strategic project managers and analysts to execute HPI’s strategic vision
  • Strategy Development: Design and implement long-term, data-driven strategies that align with HPI’s overall goals in close collaboration with the management board, the Hasso Plattner Foundation, and further stakeholders

  • Strategic Project Management: Oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of high-impact, long-term projects across the institute, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with institutional objectives

  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work across departments and functions to ensure that strategic projects are integrated seamlessly and that there is alignment between different teams

  • Trend and Competitor Analysis: Monitor emerging trends and competitive activities, using these insights to shape strategic decisions and identify opportunities for growth

  • Reporting and KPI Tracking: Regularly report progress on key initiatives to the Management Board, ensuring strategic goals are met and tracked effectively

  • Problem-Solving: Identify and address any roadblocks in the execution of strategic projects, offering innovative solutions to ensure the success of initiatives

 

Basic Qualifications  

 

  • Experience: Several years of experience in strategy development, strategic project management, or management consulting
  • Leadership: Proven track record of leading and developing teams, particularly in complex, cross-functional environments
  • Strategic Thinking: Strong ability to think strategically and develop long-term plans that align with institutional goals
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze complex data and derive actionable insights to guide strategic decision-making
  • Communication Skills: Fluent in both German and English, with the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Project Management Expertise: Experience managing large-scale, high-impact projects across multiple teams and departments

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Experience in Academia: Familiarity with the unique challenges of academic institutions or research environments
  • Collaboration with External Partners: Experience working with external consultants or partners to enrich strategy development
  • Negotiation Skills: Ability to manage and negotiate effectively with senior stakeholders
  • Agility: Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities
